Poor Whites - South Africa

June 2006 Since the end of apartheid, thousands of white South Africans have been forced into poverty. They blame the government's positive discrimination policies, which favour black employees. Twelve years ago, Afrikaners like Betsie Dreyer lived a privileged and cocooned life. Now, many are dependent on charity handouts. "We are fighting all the time to survive." The government is determined to see the workforce appropriately reflect the population. It gives black people priority in employment, sets 'black quotas' for businesses and favours companies owned by black people. But critics accuse the government of neglecting its responsibility to white citizens. As union rep Kallie Kriel states: "It's ironic that a government that fought racial laws is now doing exactly the same thing."

Admirable sentiment but not realistic. Why? Because everyone on this planet will spend some part of their lives apologising or making reparations. I am not responsible for the acts of another and no one is responsible for mine. I refuse to live with guilt because of what someone else did. What are you feeling guilty about that you think this way?

Look I don't like to see anyone suffer. I'm a White guy from America and I've have seen to much racism come from our end that it's hard to feel sorry for Whites. Even at their poorest they are still racist. Get rid of the racism and White supremacy that's in our collective, and let's take collective accountability for our wrong doings to Blacks and other races of people. If we do that then the world will view us differently.

Prosperity should be for everyone. But to many Whites are to racist to believe in that. So I have no sympathy for them. And the majority of White in SA are still well off so this reverse racism bullshit is a joke. If ya'll didn't bring racism ya'll would not have gotten bad treatment. What goes around comes around.

And it's ironic how their ancestors came from the Netherlands.. if only they had stayed back in what is now one of the wealthiest countries in the world.

I feel sorry that these people are going through hard times, but poor Afrikaners are still an exception to the majority of white South Africans who are on average a lot richer than black Africans. Besides, it sounds like these people are facing what's called competition for the first time... that's life for you and it won't change.

If a practice of life suggests that you are the best, highest, well its Central Asiatic Principle - its misleading cause its obviously too visible that it was created by someone whom had an imperfect knowledge of the Nature and Surroundings.

Just similarly how the Portuguese Central Asians left their people in Melaka in the 16th century, swindled all the spices, copper and gold and left behind the rest, just as how the Dutch, French and Portuguese mined for gold, and diamond in Brazil, left their own with nothing and left but the Africans and Indians helped them and lived with them peacefully, they intermingled, look how are Brazilians now, take example from them, A system is not God,

Hi I have a small question, why didn't this Interviewer meet even One British South African Entrepreneur to ask, since they still hold the lands, media and other sources, why can't these people help these poor Central Asian Minority Citizens? I find this not shocking for as to know how to be the Apartheid System favored Central Asians just left these people in such condition, the previous Central Asian government swindled Billions of money and dispersed themselves into different parts of world
