Oui! I'll admit, Stalin was pretty heavy handed during the Great Purge! He was an over-the-top paranoid dictador, to be sure! But when I say "long live the USSR", I'm really referring to the Union under Kruschev!
And besides, like or not, I think the West owes them a bit. It really was the USSR that pulled the weight against the Nazis. They might not have been able to do it alone, but we sure as hell couldn't either. We needed them, as they needed us.

I agree that the Nazis got what they deserved. However, the USSR was a totalitarian country that killed more people than the Nazis did. The Soviet Union deserved the collaspe of their government.
