In the commentary track for Season4, they mention something about how that ring was going to play a part in the next season, but we never saw it again. It must've been something that was left out due to time. 10 episodes was simply not enough for season5, and even though I loved it, I hate to say it but it did feel rushed. Old characters like Randy/Namond/Colvin/Poot/Shardene the stripper just get thrown in there randomly in what are basically cameos.

Actually, Omar didn't "find" Marlo, he was tipped off by Proposition Joe. And Prop Joe didn't tell Omar who he'll be robbing, so Omar didn't know one of the boys there was big-time west-side boy Marlo. To Omar, they were just a bunch of niggas ripe for a good hold-up.
