".ancestors of the Lipizzaners, have been traced to Carthaginian and Roman horses at the time Julius Caesar was Emperor of Rome. ...dates back to around 1562 when Archduke Maximilian started to breed Spanish horses in Lipica, a village in the modern day Slovenia... The South African Lipizzaners have earned the honour of being the only performing Lipizzaners outside Vienna recognised by and affiliated to the Spanish Riding School

No, they are not originated from spain. They are descendents of horses who lived in Slovenia (Kast horses) and Krast region is only in Slovenia. Most people think they are from Austria or Spain because of fameous spanish riding school in Wienna and because they dont know where or what Slovenia is.

Look on the map where is Lipica (Lipicanec). And you will see that it is in SLOVENIA. You probably think that it is Spanish becouse of spanish reading school tha is in Wiena. And the fact that Slovenia was under occupation of Austria at the time of their development doesn't make them Austrian eather!

These are not spanish horses, these are Lipizzaners, and they are from Slovenia!

For you all to know: Lipizzaners are form Slovenia! Not from Vienna, not even from Hungary (I am Hungarian and I am aware that most of the Hungarian people think Lipizzaner is a Hungarian breed because we have huge stables and a history of breeding as well)

I had the chance to train Lipizzaners and I can tell it is not their nature to act like this (I mean the first horse). Yes, they are full of energy, but this horse is full of tension as well.

I have to say I agree that the first horse looks nervous and stressed. (I've been riding for 15 years now, that allows me to say this). The rider does not have light hands and he uses the spurs too much as well. The horse might be nervous for the lights and the arena, but the rider shoul be able to act accordingly, not with such hectic movements.

Its called a spanish walk I believe. Its not concrete but not too soft either. It almost a woodish boarding they use. The middle is a carpet.
