Jazz is not an improvised music. It can be, but not all of the time. Which is why I named Maynard Ferguson and those other Jazz artist. Jazz is a very broad genre of music that can be branched to many things, but not always improvised. And for the last time, I don't like all jazz styles of music, I only like a selected few.

I think you took what I said the opposite way I was trying to communicate it to you. Jazz is an improvised music. I don't believe Jazz to have any of it's original characteristics besides that. You can't listen to Louis Armstrong and then listen to Wayne Krantz and say it's the same style. The thing that makes them both jazz though, is improvisation. So what I was saying was, that if you like "Written and practiced" music, then maybe you don't like Jazz as much as you think.

Hey, welcome to the new and improved me 10 months older than my previous comment. I still haven't changed my mind, but I'll make my sentence a little more complicated for you (since you obviously don't like simple minded stuff). Ok, here it goes....This type of jazz is usually not recommended by me. I much prefer pre-practiced and pre-written music rather than listening to the blowing of random notes that are a disturbing nuisance to my gradually developing ears. Wow, thanks man!

???Ummmmm.....I'm pretty sure that the definition of jazz is not - "A genre of music that is pre-written before performance." Phil Driscoll, Chris Botti, Maynard Ferguson, and sometimes even Arturo Sandoval are all examples of jazz players who look at a sheet of music or practice before performance. Also, if you read my previous comments, I noted that I do not prefer improvised music. You're not going to convince me into liking this kind of jazz. Give it up!

KO8E89 is just stating his opinion. He's not bashing anyone and admitted that he thought this type of music is hard to play. Whether you agree with him or not is your opinion but as I said, he's not bashing anything. I'm sure you feel similarly about pop or rap or something.
