I agree on that. Caan made the part of Sonny his own, but its kinda interesting to wonder what if. De Niro could have passed good enought for Sonny, considering he and Pacino looked like they could be brothers at this stage of their lives. Then again, if he was Sonny, De Niro wouldn't have won an Oscar for Young Vito.....

what a lame defense of deniro. you talk tough but you didn't back anything up...yeah, deniro is a great actor. we know that you idiot. why are you on his nuts? there is no such thing as the best actor of all time and real actors would scoff at the idea. there are people who are perfect for certain roles. hey i will go out on a limb like you and say...michael jordan, best b-ball player ever! you douche.

that's a pretty quick reply, I guess you're online. =) okay, maybe I conceived it a little as what they've achieved in the film industry, as opposed to acting skills alone. On that one, I think De Niro's just about at the top, no question. Ability-wise, from the active ones probably Pacino also makes it. Tom Hanks is pretty good, but maybe Jack Nicholson is an elite actor too, all-time. I don't know much about old timers beyond Brando, like Humphrey Bogart, for instance. =)

OH, I'm all about healthy discussion, but when you bring up Brando, how else am I going to react? If you were to have brought up some like Tom Hanks, or Pacino, then I would have discussed this further.

I shouldn't have brought that up. It was more of an idea I commented for you to elaborate on how good De Niro is, using Brando as an instrument against. It looked like you were looking for a healthy discussion, which you obviously isn't. Wrong decision for me...

its true that it wouldnt make sense him being sonny since al pacino was older and i also think james cann did it with a lil more agression, but it still was very good
